 Ameeq Farooq has been working as Lecturer at the Institute of
Metallurgy and Materials Engineering since 2018. He received
M.Sc. and B.Sc. degree in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering in
2013 and 2010, respectively. He had been working in this institute
as Research Engineer since 2010 and was promoted to Research
officer in 2012. He has diverse industrial, academic and research
experience and worked on many industry-funded projects i.e.
"Mitigation of Internal Corrosion of Steel-Pipes due to CO2, H2S
and Bacteria". He has been engaged in providing consulting services to many metallurgical, chemical, and process industries in Pakistan. At present, Mr. Ameeq is an active member of Association of Materials Performance and Protection (AMPP) (Formerly NACE International) and is working as secretary of AMPP Pakistan Chapter. He is the in-charge of the Corrosion Control Research Cell at the University of the Punjab and is actively assisting both undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research work. He is a member of many engineering bodies i.e. Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Society of Corrosion Engineers Pakistan (SOCEP), Institute of Corrosion (Icorr), International Corrosion Council (ICC) and maintains a position of Faculty advisor of Materials Chapter Punjab University (MCPU). He has published more than 60 research articles in peer reviewed journals of high repute and has presented his research work at many national and international forums. Based on his dedicated and consistent engagement in the promotion of extended learning and dissemination of corrosion awareness in Pakistan, Mr. Ameeq has been awarded ‘NACE Distinguished Service Award 2021’ and is the recipient of appreciation certificates in 2020, 2021 and 2022 from the European Federation of Corrosion (EFC). Mr. Farooq’s teaching and research interests include nanomaterials, solid/liquid interface, surface modification and treatments, coatings, cathodic protection, corrosion engineering and electrochemistry in the broader context. |
